Make It Work

Two Tara's For The Price Of One

One day after she turned 21, Miss USA was given a second chance at her job and Donald Trump gave a press conference about the whole thing. Dude acted like he was giving an acceptance speech at the National Convention. Seriously, who gives a crap about these pageant things anyway? Is this event the same thing as Miss America? Who knows. What we do know, however, is that Freaky-Deaky Trump bought the pageant and used to talk about it ad nauseum on that 'Apprentice' show back before it jumped the shark and we stopped watching it. Miss USA, Tara Conner, is familiar to us because she was on 'Project Runway' and Kayne lost his shit because he's totally Mr. Pageant Gown Designer and we digress. So the deal with Tara is, she lives in the Trump Tower with the Miss Teen Usa and drinks a lot and was having problems and Trump milked it for all it was worth. Tara tested positive for cocaine and Freaky-Deaky said, "She’s agreed to go into rehab. She knows that if she makes even the slightest mistake from here on she will be immediately replaced." Kayne is undoubtedly jumping for joy because she'll wear his winning creation to the Miss Universe Pageant. And the other Tara news is basically the same as it always is. Tara Reid. Drunk.

Eins, Zwei, Drei Little Children

Congratulations to Heidi and Seal on the birth of their second (der zweite) son. Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel was born on Wednesday, and Seal wrote on their website, "To our children, a brother. To our parents, a grandson. To my wife and I, a son. To our family, a blessing. He is healthy, beautiful and looks just like his mother." Johan joins his one-year-old brother, Henry Guenther Ademola Dashtu Samuel and sister, Leni. In addition to hosting Project Runway and Germany's Next Top Model, Heidi managed to find time to record an album of Christmas songs. The first single is called "Wonderland" and has already hit the radio stations here in the New York area. The video? Not so much.

Jeffrey Sebelia Is Still A Loser

Our beloved Project Runway is over and Jeffrey the Junkie walked away with the top prize. Ugh. We're hoping he doesn't spend the $100,000 on heroin as that would break Miss Heidi Klum's heart. Tim Gunn's too. It's wonderful that Jeffrey traded the hypodermic needle for a sewing needle (and several tattoo needles), but this is not an after-school special. He went over budget and outsourced his work. Not cool. Our fave, Michael Knight, showed a collection that was a bit too ghetto safari and the judges were not feeling it. Oh well. Michael has a bright future ahead of him and rumor is he's dating Brandy. And yes she was there to cheer him on at Bryant Park. Too cute. Uli already has a following in Miami, and Laura will hopefully open a boutique on Madison or sell her dresses at Bendel's, just as soon as she gives birth to that sixth child. And throws "it on the pile with the rest of them." We'll miss you Michael and Laura. Auf wiedersehen.

The Final Five

New York Fashion Week is here and that means the finale of ‘Project Runway.’ It was two episodes ago that seven designers flew to Parsons Paris and Angela was out. Thank God. Jeffrey won the challenge and immunity and was really, really, really psyched that Angela and her granny flowers were eliminated. Jeffrey is this season’s Wendy Pepper so he’ll be in the final three although we’re hoping for Kayne to join Michael and Uli in the tents. The couture gown challenge sent Vincent packing last week and we’re happy we don’t have to hear him say, “It gets me off,” ever again. We loved Kayne’s gown but Jeffrey won again with his plaid number so we’re happy the designers no longer receive immunity for their wins. Highlights for next week foreshadow a loss for pregnant Laura as she is complaining about having to design for the Olsen twins. From the above photo we’re guessing Gwen Stefani will be a guest judge during the finals and/or her L.A.M.B. line will be mentioned ad nauseum. Jeffrey the Junkie will be in rock-n-roll heaven.

Project Runway Round-Up

Things heated up with Jeffrey and Angela this week when he made her mom cry, but he is still in the race playing this season's villain. We learned that previously he "was a junkie living on the streets" which may explain why his neck is covered in tattoos. Barbie Boy Robert Best bid us adieu and eccentric Vincent won the challenge working with Uli's mom, Heidi. We have spent most of the past weeks in Manhattan at Parsons School of Design where Project Runway is filmed, as our Royal Princess sister from across the pond has been accepted into the Masters Program. The mentor slash advisor at Parsons is none other than the fabulous Tim Gunn and we know our Royal Sissy will definitely "make it work." As for the final three on the show...we predict our favorite designer Michael Knight will show a collection at Fashion Week as well as Uli from Germany via Miami. We're guessing the wild card will go to Laura, the newly revealed pregnant for the sixth time architect or Jeffrey because he makes for good TV. Angela and Kane have questionable taste and Vincent seems to be off his rocker, but as Heidi lets us know every week, "Sometimes you're in and sometimes you're out." Perhaps Angela's grandma flowers will miraculously be in again. If that's the case, Heaven help us all.

The Hot Pants From Hotlanta

Last night's episode of Project Runway rocked with our favorite designer, Michael, winning the challenge. After Keith got kicked off last week for having design books in his room and for going MIA during the contest, yucky Jeffrey is now the resident meanie and annoyance extraordinaire. After picking a fight with Angela and Laura, Jeffrey went to Michael for his support and he stuck up for Angela and gave us another brilliant quote, "I'm not tryin' to be Captain-Save-A-Ho, as we say in the hood." We love Michael.

I Wanna Be A Muthaf#ckin' Fashion Star

Tonight's episode of Project Runway features "American Royalty" and what appears to be a challenge with the designers teaming up. There is quite a controversy surrounding last week's challenge winner, Keith Michael, and his entry sketches to get on the show as they are exact copies of Spring '06 looks, only in different colors. Cheaters never win and winners never cheat. We thought Michael Knight from the ATL (he's very hip-hop out of Atlanta) should have won the challenge with his cute dress made from coffee filters but the judges aren't feeling him as of yet. He had the best aside quote which we used for the title of this post. Michael, in our eyes you already are.
